“Under the Sea” is a striking abstract expressionism painting infused with impressionist elements that celebrate the vitality of ocean life. In this piece, mangroves, seaweed, and coral reefs are brought to life through my impasto pointillism technique, which I call “Paintillism.” Thick layers of oil paint create highly textured surfaces, while silver spray paint adds a shimmering luminosity, evoking beams of light filtering through water. The flowing movement of the underwater plants gives the impression that the coral reef itself is alive, inviting the viewer into an ever-shifting seascape. A deep green base anchors the palette, enriched with bold strokes of red, yellow, and white that pulse with energy and contrast.
